FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the individual and the complexity of the issue. Many people experience significant results in just one session. RTT is designed to be fast and effective, but some times more than one session is recommended.
What happens during an RTT session?
A typical session lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. During the session I will guide you into a safe, relaxed state. We will then explore where the root cause of the issue came from by looking back at moments in your life that are connected to the problem. This is necessary to uncover where the belief connected to the issue first came from. Then, using various therapy techniques, we reframe the negative belief and install new, empowering ones.
Is hypnosis safe?
Yes. It is a natural state that we all experience at least twice a day without knowing it- falling asleep and waking up. It’s a wonderfully relaxed and peaceful state ofconsciousness similar to deep meditation or daydreaming. You are not asleep and are always in control.
What happens if I can’t be hypnotized?
Everyone can be hypnotized – as above, it is a perfectly natural and normal state. Sometimes clients resist the hypnosis due to anxiety. In these cases the session is still incredibly beneficial as we work to address the reason for the anxiety. I do understand the leap of faith required for clients to put their trust in me – it isn’t easy to feel vulnerable and venture into the unknown. I work to a strict code of ethics which includes confidentiality, safe-guarding, working within my scope of expertise, and seeking supervision. I will always guide you safely. I will never ask you to do anything you do not want to do.
Is RTT right for me?
We will find this out during the initial consultation. The only people who cannot benefit from RTT are those who have Epilepsy or have a history of psychosis. If I believe you would be better suited to a different practitioner who specialises in your problem, then I will refer you to them. As stated above, as part of my code of ethics I will not work with someone I feel under-qualified to help, but I will help in guiding you to someone who can.
What if there is something I don’t want to talk about during a session?
As mentioned previously, despite being in a relaxed state, you are still in control in hypnosis. If there is something you don’t want to tell me during a session, you don’t have to and I would never make you. However, we will examine the feelings around the ‘scene’ which in itself is beneficial and brings awareness of the impact the experience has had on you and the belief formed.
